no country for old men / Benito Mussolini e Claretta Petacci (oil on linen, 115x170) 2009-2010
Here the corpse of Benito Mussolini lies next to his lover Claretta Petacci in a morgue in Milan, Italy, 29 April 1945. (this painting is part of my personal and crude pictorial survey on the "body of the Duce," which marked the history of Twentieth-Century in Italy. Another powerful image and symbol is that the body of Aldo Moro's Death in 1978).
For my painting I was inspired by the famous movie and false ROSWELL alien autopsy (New Mexico, 1947)imagining that the bodies of Mussolini and Petacci were filmed by the military operator elusive Jack Burnett (he,according to Ray Santilli, made the original shots) into a film style reconstruction of science fiction and horror series B Fifties by Jack Arnold, Robert Wise, Don Siegel, Robert Aldrich, ect.
I have stolen the Title "No Country for Old Men" from the great American writer Cormac McCarthy
